A TOWN mayor will launch one of the biggest events of her charity crusade at a gala weekend later this month.
The Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Julie Bainbridge, will launch a grand holiday raffle at Ferryhill Summer Gala on Saturday, August 20, and Sunday 21.
Raffle tickets, priced £1, will be on sale in the garden of the Town Hall throughout the weekend of family fun and will be sold in several shops and businesses.
The four main prizes are £300-worth of holiday vouchers from Hays Travel, a surprise weekend for two courtesy of a mystery donor, and one of two day trips for two people provided by 2 J's travel agents and Durham City Coaches.
The winning tickets will be drawn on Friday, January 27, next year, at a venue and time to be arranged.
Proceeds from the raffle will be shared between the Mayor's chosen charities - Breakthrough Breast Cancer, All Saints Day Centre and The Sure Start Programme in Ferryhill.
