PVC manufacturer Hydro Polymers says it has reduced effluent waste from its factory in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, during the past year.
The company said it had also improved levels of efficiency in terms of packaging and transport, as it strives to meet environmental benchmarks.
Hydro Polymers recently announced plans to install two 250kw wind turbines at the Newton Aycliffe site as part of a project to generate its own electricity.
Hydro employs 1,200 people, 400 of whom work in Newton Aycliffe. It is the fourth largest PVC manufacturer in Europe and part of Norsk Hydro, which employs 35,000 people worldwide.
