Yorkshire pulled off a surprise 126-run win over Bangladesh A at Headingley yesterday after the three-day match seemed to be heading towards a dull draw.

Set 273 for victory off what became 53 overs, Bangladesh were 40 without loss from 13.

But John Blain got rid of openers Shahriar Nafees and Nafees Iqbal with consecutive deliveries and the tourists crumbled.

Tushar Imran was caught down the leg-side by Simon Guy from David Lucas' last ball before tea and the second delivery after the interval saw Alok Kapali smartly stumped as he marched down the pitch.

Mehrab Hossain was lbw to Lucas to leave Bangladesh on 73 for five and after Lucas had yorked Abdur Razzak, triallist Mitchell Claydon claimed his first wicket for Yorkshire when Steve Patterson nonchalantly held on to a right-handed catch at deep mid-on to account for Nazim Uddin.

Yorkshire experienced some resistance from eighth-wicket pair Shahin Hossain and Syed Rasel but once Wainwright had Syed caught at short extra cover by Joe Sayers it was only a matter of time and the end came with 14 minutes of the final hour remaining when last man Talha Jubair was lbw offering no stroke at Wainwright.

Yorkshire's win was made possible by an unbeaten century from Michael Lumb.

Dropped after a run of moderate form, Lumb was told to concentrate on making big scores and his 103 not out came on top of 130 for the Second XI in their three-day match with Worcestershire Seconds last week. It came off 136 balls and contained 11 fours and a six and as soon as he had reached his century Yorkshire declared on 240 for four.
