VETERANS of a famous Battle of Britain squadron touched down in North Yorkshire this week for a reunion
Five former spitfire pilots from 72 Squadron met at RAF Linton-on-Ouse.
A dinner was held in the evening and a series of flypasts and displays were organised for the afternoon.
These included a diamond formation of nine Tucano jets flown in honour of their guests by current squadron pilots.
The highlight was a flypast by Linton instructor Squadron Leader Shiney Simmons in his Battle of Britain memorial flight Spitfire Mk II.
On his way from a base in Lincolnshire, he flew over York in formation with one of the squadron's Tucanos.
The Tucano bears the name, Miners of Durham II, in honour of the pitmen from County Durham who raised more than £5,000 to buy a Spitfire during the Battle of Britain.
