A GROUP of youngsters who will embark on a trip of a lifetime next month have organised a fete to help them boost funds for their journey.
Members of the Pilgrim Club, in Shildon, are hosting a family fun day at Hackworth Park, Shildon, on Saturday, September 3, to help them in their quest to raise £2,000 for a working trip to Romania for ten club members.
Among the attractions at the fete will be stalls and displays, fairground amusements and a bucking bronco.
Councillor John Cutting, who is the founder of the outdoor survival group that has opened the doors to the world for underprivileged youngsters in south-west Durham, said: "The kids are working hard to raise as much money as they can. This will be their main fundraising event.
"This is not going to be a relaxing holiday. The youngsters will be looking at how Romania tackles environmental issues and will be doing their bit to help."
Anyone wanting to donate money is asked to call Coun Cutting on (01388) 775105.
