PROFESSIONAL skateboarders are about to roll into North Yorkshire as part of a fun day for young people.

Ryedale's Child and Youth Project has organised the event with Thornton-le-Dale Playing Fields Association next Friday.

It gets underway at 11am on the village playing field.

Project manager Andy Brown said: "They are running skating workshops for the young people who come along. We hope they will enjoy not only the skating but also the music we are putting on and a barbecue."

Young people will also get the chance to paint a wall mural at the playing field, alongside professional artists.

Admission to the event - which runs until 4pm - is free thanks to funding which has come from Ryedale District Council.
