TWO drug-dealing brothers were jailed for a total of six years yesterday after they sold drugs to undercover police.

Clifford and Mark Duncan were street dealers operating in Redcar and Saltburn, east Cleveland, selling heroin to addicts for £5 a wrap.

Teesside Crown Court heard the pair were caught after they were watched by undercover officers between January 19 and February 1.

Sam Andrews, prosecuting, said a police officer, called Chris, introduced himself to an addict and asked where he could score drugs.

He was taken to a hotel in Redcar where Clifford Duncan, 34, sold him two wraps of heroin for £10 and gave him his phone number for future deals.

Mr Andrews told the court he later introduced his brother Mark and he took over supplying the officer with drugs.

He said: "Clifford Duncan said the reason he was getting involved with drugs was to pay off a debt.

"He said he was supplying 30 bags of heroin per day over that two week period.

"He was not telling police who he owed the debt to."

Nigel Soppitt, mitigating, said: "He was addicted to heroin. He was in debt to a supplier."

Mike Bosomworth, for Mark Duncan, 35, said his client had been devastated when his child had been taken away from him. He said: "That caused excessive use of drugs and he got into debt."

Clifford Duncan, of High Street, Loftus, east Cleveland, was jailed for four years after admitting five counts of supplying or being concerned in the supply of heroin.

His brother, of Newcomen Terrace, Redcar, was jailed for two years after pleading guilty to four counts of supplying drugs.
