PEOPLE are invited to join in the fun at an action-packed family charity day that is being held in Durham to help two children's charities.

The event will be at the Meadowfield Leisure Centre from noon on Sunday, organised by staff from Vodaphone shops in aid of the National Autistic Society and the National Children's Home.

Among the activities will be a tug-of-war competition, scavenger hunt, sponsored waxing, razor hair design demonstration, barbecue, bouncy castle, climbing wall and face painting.

There will also be a football tournament, a Christmas-theme party with a band, a raffle, with prizes donated by local and national firms, and a prize-giving ceremony.

Claire Barron, of mobile phone firm Vodaphone, said: "Previous events have been very successful. In November 2004 we raised more than £7,000 for Children In Need with a charity football match.

"This time, the event is so much bigger and more spectacular and we have every confidence we will achieve far more.''
