BLINDFOLDED soldiers have been helping patients in a special care baby unit.
They took part in a hazardous driving competition organised by Private Lisa Tilley to raise funds for the unit, at the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton.
Personnel from the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) at Catterick Garrison had to drive round a hazard-filled course while blindfolded and with only a radio for guidance.
The teams of two donated £5 each to take part in the competition and raised £1,150.
Captain Dave Sanders said: "We wanted to help a local charity and have a fun and entertaining event which everyone would enjoy too.
"We have close connections with the unit, as soldiers at the ITC and Catterick Garrison have had their babies cared for by the unit's dedicated staff, and we wanted to say thank you."
Sister Anne Wall said: "This generous helping hand is much appreciated. The money will be put to good use."
