ON the same day local radio station TFM emerged as front-runners in the renaming of Darlington's Neasham Road stadium, winger Carlos Logan's decision to join the club came as music to manager David Hodgson's ears.
Logan has agreed a six-month deal with the club and goes straight into the Quakers' squad for Saturday's opener at Rushden and Diamonds.
The arrival of Logan - Quakers' sixth signing of the summer - ends Hodgson's search for a left midfielder following Jason St Juste's decision to quit the club in May.
"Carlos is still only young and still has a lot to learn in the game, but with some work he could be a real asset to the team," said Hodgson. "We feel he is worth a closer look and that's why we have signed him for six months.
"If we can integrate him to suit our style of play I'm sure he can do very well for himself here."
Logan joins Quakers on a free transfer after being freed by Manchester City in May. The youngster failed to earn a permanent move to Chesterfield after a trial last month, despite impressing on-loan at Saltergate last season.
With the start of the new campaign just three days away, Hodgson is satisfied with the way his new look squad is shaping.
"We've had a very positive pre-season and the lads can't wait to get started at Rushden," said Hodgson. "All the new players have settled in very quickly and there's a really good feeling about the place."
Hodgson watched Congolese striker Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu score two in Monday's behind-closed-doors friendly win at Bradford City. However, the Quakers boss is unlikely to reach a decision on the 22-year-old before Saturday's trip to Nene Park.
"I'm still debating about Guylain, but I have to bear in mind that I have three strikers," said Hodgson. "There is no hurry, although I would still like to bring in a fourth striker at some point."
Defender David McGurk has joined York City on a six-month loan.
Darlington Supporters' Club is holding its AGM on Thursday evening in the Ron Greener Lounge at Darlington's stadium. Hodgson and chairman Stewart Davies will be in attendance to answer questions at the end of the meeting.
The event is open to all members of the Supporters' Club and forms will be available on the evening for those wishing to join.
