THE brewer which produces Newcastle Brown Ale has secured a deal to supply a North-East leisure group's growing collection of clubs, bars, restaurants and hotels.
The three-and-a-half-year contract will see Edinburgh-based Scottish & Newcastle (S&N) UK provide beers and ciders to venues across the region owned by Vimac Leisure.
Vimac was founded in 2002 and has become one of the leisure industry's fastest-growing management companies.
The South Tyneside-based company employs more than 800 people and has an annual turnover of more than £13m.
This year alone, Vimac has opened the £2.2m Studio nightclub in Chester-le-Street, acquired the Hush nightclub in Middlesbrough for £3m and acquired Whitby-based fish restaurant Trenchers for an undisclosed sum.
Its venues currently use about 8,000 barrels of beer every year, a figure which is to grow with the continuing expansion.
Managing director Jason Greenwood said Vimac has worked with the UK division of S&N UK since day one.
S&N operates the Federation Brewery in Gateshead, where Newcastle Brown Ale is now brewed.
