A POIGNANT drama about the First World War is being staged at the Georgian Theatre Royal, in Richmond, this week.
Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society is performing Oh! What a Lovely War.
The play combines popular songs of the time and horrifying battle statistics that call into question the reasons for the war.
It is directed by Jim Brown, a retired RAF officer and part-time military historian. During the performances, thousands of poppies will fall on to the stage and the Royal British Legion will collect for this year's poppy appeal.
The show finishes this week, playing from tomorrow until Saturday. Performances start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost from £5 to £10. Call (01748) 825252 to book.
