TEAMS took part in a bowls tournament yesterday as the rain held off.
Quaker Bowl, in Darlington, was won by Wendy and Dave Bowes, who play for Middleton St George, and Mike Baines, who bowls for Cummins.
The trio shared a first prize of £200 and a silver trophy.
In second place was Barry Hopkins senior, John Smith and Barry Hopkins junior, who is just 13-years-old but has already been selected to represent Durham County.
The trio, who all bowl for South Park, shared a prize of £80.
A team comprising of Dave Quickmire, Dave Barron and Barry Attwood, who all bowl for Leeholme, came third, sharing a prize of £60.
The team in fourth place, Keith Hartley, Vince Robson and Alan Cooper, shared a prize of £40.
Quaker Bowl is sponsored by The Northern Echo and took place at the Eastbourne Sports Complex, in Darlington.
Norma Cooper, who organised the tournament with her husband Alan, said: "It was an excellent day and we have all enjoyed it."
The bowls started at 9.30am and did not finish until 6pm.
Mrs Cooper said competitors liked taking part in an all-day event, as opposed to short games.
