TWO teenage sisters have been arrested in connection with the alleged wounding of a 59-year-old man following an appeal for information in The Northern Echo.
Earlier last month, police appealed for information after a man was kicked, bitten and punched in an assault lasting 25 minutes.
He suffered two bite wounds cuts and bruising and a damaged eyeball in the attack on the Sustrans trail, between Pelton and South Pelaw, County Durham, three weeks ago.
Chester-le-Street Community Inspector Dave Anderson said: "We would like to thank all the members of the public who contacted us."
* A 14-year-old and 15-year-old girl have been charged with Section 20 wounding. They will appear in Consett Youth Court on August 19.
