DENNIS Hobbs is set to make his World Superbike debut next weekend after his Nvidia Yamaha team were given a wild card entry to the race at Brands Hatch.
The FIM, the International Motorcycling Federation, has confirmed Nvidia's place on the grid thanks to their role as a development team for Pirelli tyres, the chosen rubber of the World Superbike Championship.
Guisborough's Hobbs, aboard the Nvidia R1, will join Ducati's James Toseland and Kawasaki's Chris Walker in the chase to be the top British rider in front of the expected record home crowd at the newly revamped Kent circuit.
It has been the best part of a month since the team last raced in the British Superbike Championship but Hobbs is ready to hit the ground running when they get to Brands.
The spare time has been used well with countless hours spent in bike preparation and further power increases found in anticipation of the tough competition of WSBK.
"We've had what feels like a year off even though it would only be four weeks by the time we get to Brands," said Hobbs.
"I've been waiting for official confirmation for the last few weeks and now it has come through I'm really excited.
"I've raced the full circuit a couple of times before and I really like it.''
Hobbs has made a full recovery from an horrific crash in testing at Croft last season that left him with an undiagnosed broken neck.
