MUSIC fans mingled with drinkers in Darlington's Market Square last night to listen to a group of bands hoping to make it into the big time.
The TFM Unsigned night, saw Darlington band The Fray, amongst others, appear on stage to prove they are the best in up-and-coming talent.
The free gig also saw La Haine, Welcome to Failure and Columbus entertain the crowd.
Last night's event was organised by Darlington Borough Council and supported by Darlington Youth Services. Tonight, the town centre will be filled once again as the Darlington Festival 05 draws to a close.
The highlight for many will be a performance by chart-topping girl group Bananarama, who recently reformed.
The night of more mellow music is hosted by Nick Wright, from radio station Magic 1170.
Local band X Pulse, vocalist Nathan Moore from Brother Beyond, and soul dance singer Kenny Thomas will also feature.
The evening, called a Magic Night of Music, has also been organised by the borough council.
Speaking last night, a council spokeswoman said: "It was really good, but we are expecting a lot more people on Saturday night for Bananarama. It will be very exciting."
