The tetrathlon season culminated in the Area 2 qualifier for the Championships at Foxberry Chasers UK in Caldwell, courtesy of Mr & Mrs P Metcalfe.
The Open and Novice individuals and teams were competing for championship places at Moreton Morrell in August.
The venue and sniff of good competition prompted junior competitors from Northern Ireland to challenge the best of Northern England Area 2 to the 'Northern Challenge'. Thirteen competitors and their parents travelled the Irish sea to taste our northern hospitality.
The event was a great success, enjoying the warmest weather of the summer which was great for the relaxing phases but arduous for competitors riding and running in their respective cross country phases.
The organisers, Zetland Hunt Pony Club, would like to thank their hosts Sara and Phil Metcalfe of Foxberry Chasers, W Swinbank and Sons Ltd for providing the running venue, their sponsors Mitsubishi Motors, the Cleveland and South Durham Hunt Pony Clubs and all the other volunteers who enabled this great competition for the athletes to take place. The athletes deserve the greatest admiration for their good spirits, good manners, great fortitude and sense of fun.
