A NEW national headquarters in Thirsk has been handed over to one of the UK's leading cycle clothing and outdoor accessory distributors.
The £1.4m purpose-designed base on the industrial park has been officially handed over to Zyro after being completed on time and within budget by Severfield-Reeve Projects, the integrated design, build and development company.
Work on the 30,000 sq ft building which provides more storage, office, training and showroom space started last summer.
Zyro, which has a £15m turnover supplying high-performance cycle clothing and outdoor accessories to retailers throughout the UK, has moved to Thirsk from its previous base in Boroughbridge.
Simon Ellison, joint managing director, said Zyro was continuing to grow rapidly.
"The better, purpose-designed facilities in Thirsk will enable us to hold more stock, increase efficiency and build on our service to customers. It also offers a much pleasanter environment to work in.
"We selected Severfield-Reeve Projects because its integrated service took responsibility for the entire project, allowing us to get on with running our business and capitalise on our success. We are delighted with what they have achieved."
The building complies with the police Secured By Design initiative by incorporating effective crime prevention and security standards. It is the biggest warehouse and office development in the North Yorkshire Police Eastern Area to be recognised by the initiative.
"Zyro and Severfield Reeve have shown a major commitment by taking all reasonable steps to ensure the security of the building and safety of all Zyro employees," said Chief Insp Ken McIntosh, who presented a certificate.
Thirsk-based Severfield-Reeve Projects has been a driving force behind the town's industrial park for 20 years. It has designed and built a wide range of businesses including Teleware, Multidrive, Union Trucks, Royal Mail, St John Ambulance and Talking Picture Cards.
"This scheme demonstrates how our integrated service, which involved everything from allocating the site to designing the facility, obtaining planning permission, carrying out the construction and final fit-out, enables busy entrepreneurs to concentrate on running their business with total peace of mind," said Lyndsay Ross, managing director.
