TWO men were stabbed a total of five times with a knife during a fight on a Metro train.
The victims, aged 22 and 23 and from the Seaburn area, boarded the last train for Sunderland at Newcastle Central Station at 11.20pm, on July 16, following a night out.
A man in his early 20s also got on the train with another man and two women and tried to provoke a fight with the two men.
He approached them and a fight followed, during which the pair were stabbed.
None of the wounds were life-threatening.
The suspect and his male friend left the Metro train at Heworth Metro Station, but this is not believed to have been their final destination.
Their female companions also got off the carriage but returned to a different carriage on the same train and got off later at Pelaw.
The man responsible for the assaults is described as white, slim, with short fair hair and was wearing a blue T-shirt and darker trousers.
The two victims were met by police and ambulance at Pelaw station after being contacted by a number of passengers on the train.
They were taken to hospital where they received treatment and a number of stitches to their wounds.
Anyone who has not yet contacted police who was on the train or anyone with information is asked to call detectives on 0191-454 7555, ext 64146.
