TWO young tennis players are hoping to go far in their chosen sport after serving, volleying and smashing their way to the attention of selectors.
Fifteen-year-old Northallerton College students David Foster, of Knayton, and Nick Gledhill, of Romanby, have been chosen to play for the Hambleton and Richmondshire area tennis team.
They have also been invited to take part in singles trials for Yorkshire, doubles trials for North Yorkshire and are ranked by the Lawn Tennis Association as their game goes from strength to strength.
David, who took up the game when he was five, said: "I simply love playing tennis. I would love to play professionally one day."
Nick, who has played seriously for the past two-and-a-half years, said: "I like it because you don't have to worry about any team-mates. It is just you versus your opponent."
The college's head of PE, Ruth Curtis, said: "Both players have shown real flair for the game, dedication and a lot of raw talent. I can see a bight future for them in the world of tennis."
