EXTRA police patrols are being drafted into a town centre to curb lager louts.
Cleveland Police say they are targeting drunken troublemakers in Middlesbrough town centre, which is already covered by a three-month dispersal order.
The order gives police and support officers special powers to impose a 24-hour ban on culprits.
Acting Inspector Paul Higgins said: "No one wants to stop people having a good time. Warm summer nights encourage people to go out and enjoy themselves.
"However, we will not tolerate the antics of a drunken minority causing mayhem in Middlesbrough town centre, disrupting businesses and being a threat to the majority of customers in clubs and pubs, who simply want a pleasant night out.
"Everyone has their part to play in ensuring that the thousands of people who visit our pubs and clubs can do so in a safe environment, which is trouble free. We and our partners will be playing our part to the full."
Police teams will check out pubs and clubs, including the credentials of doormen and bar staff.
Working with Middlesbrough Council officials, they will carry out test purchases at off-licences to check if traders are selling alcohol to under-18s.
Mr Higgins said: "This is a joint operation that will be taking place over the coming weeks."
