A POIGNANT drama about the First World War is being staged at a North theatre this week.
Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society is performing Oh! What a Lovely War at the Georgian Theatre Royal, in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
The play combines popular songs of the time and horrifying battle statistics that call into question the reasons for the war.
It is directed by Jim Brown, a retired RAF officer and part-time military historian. During the performances, thousands of poppies will fall on to the stage and the Royal British Legion will collect for this year's poppy appeal.
The show runs until Saturday, then from August 3 to 6. Performances start at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost between £5 and £10. Call (01748) 825252 to book.
