Beth Parry, originally from Bishop Auckland, and Lydia Mein from Crook, were among a group of 16 to 24 year-olds who collected a Millennium Volunteer Award of Excellence for completing 200 hours of voluntary work.
They were given the awards on board the Prince William while the festival got into full swing, and were given a tour the ship.
Hannah Stace, Millennium Volunteers project co-ordinator, said: "This was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the valuable contributions which volunteers make in their community.
"The atmosphere was fantastic, and having the presentation in such a great venue is an excellent way of saying thank you."
