A DISTRICT'S talented sporting youngsters have been honoured at an awards ceremony.
The annual Richmondshire Junior Sports Awards ceremony was held at Richmond Lower School last week.
Prizes in 15 categories were presented to the district's outstanding young sports people at the event, sponsored by Randall Orchard Construction Ltd.
Jim Fryer, chairman of Richmondshire Local Sports Council, said: "The awards go some way to recognise the effort and achievement of young people throughout the district who enjoy, and in many cases, excel in their chosen sport. An evening like this also gives us a chance to highlight the contribution made by the district's coaches in developing local sporting talent."
Young golfer Jodi Ewart, 17, who represents Yorkshire and England, received the outstanding sportsperson of the year award. She said: "I'm really grateful to those who nominated me and to Richmondshire Local Sports Council for the award."
