SCHOOLS are being urged to take part in a clean-up day as part of an event which takes place each year in Australia.
Sedgefield Borough Council is urging schools to sign up for Clean Up Day 2006, on Friday, March 3.
It is linked to the Clean Up Australia project, which has been running since 1992. Glyn Hall, the borough council's director of neighbourhood services, said: "It's a great way for students to learn about the impact of waste on our environment and make a real difference in their local community."
