TWO drunken revellers hoping to fly to Northern Ireland for a stag night were arrested by police over the weekend.
The pair were detained at Newcastle Airport as they tried to board a flight to Belfast after officers deemed them too drunk to fly.
Officers from Newcastle Area Command made the arrests as part of the forcewide summer campaign, called The Party's Over, targeting drunkenness, violence and disorder.
Officers are now visiting hotels to meet stag and hen parties arriving in the region to remind them about their behaviour while in Newcastle.
In the past week, there were 89 arrests across Newcastle as part of the campaign - 57 for drunkenness, 18 for assault and 14 for disorder.
