RUN-DOWN buildings in a conservation area could get a new lease of life.
A one-year grant scheme covers residential properties and commercial shopfronts in the Catchgate conservation area.
Funded by English Heritage, Derwentside District Council and Durham County Council, the Catchgate Partnership scheme aims to tackle run-down properties in North Road.
The scheme includes the terraces on both sides of North Road, one of which is the attractive Hobson's Building which was formerly a bakery.
Anyone wanting further details about the grant scheme should contact Nicola Duckworth, at Durham County Council, on 0191-383 4104.
Applications have to be made before the end of March next year. Grants are given on a first come, first served basis.
