COUNCIL bosses have pledged their commitment to ensuring safe and healthy workplaces for people in Darlington.
Darlington Borough Council has signed an agreement with the Health and Safety Executive stating that the two organisations will work together to improve safety standards.
Both have responsibilities for enforcing health and safety standards among firms.
John Buxton, the council's development and environment director, said: "Signing this agreement means that we will be working even more closely with the Executive.
"It gives us a new and practical way of working together, so we can use our collective resources to tackle safety priorities."
