LANDLORDS who show a commitment to high safety standards are being rewarded at a ceremony tonight.
Chester-le-Street District Council has set up an accreditation scheme which recognises the work of landlords who provide a good service by achieving high management standards.
At tonight's event, starting at 7.30pm in the civic centre, another 17 rented properties in Chester-le-Street will be accredited, bringing the total meeting the required standard up to 25.
The Chester-le-Street Private Landlord Association was established by the council a year ago and currently has a membership of 40 people.
Mary Brennan, the association's liaison officer, said: "The response from landlords thus far has been very encouraging, but obviously we're hoping for all private landlords to join the scheme.
Any landlords interested in finding out more about the scheme are invited to attend tonight's meeting, or contact Mrs Brennan at the civic centre on 0191-387 2131.
