PEOPLE have an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors this week with the help of countryside wardens.
Three free events are being organised in Hartlepool to celebrate Local Nature Reserve Week. They are:
* A butterfly fly-by tomorrow, from 11am to 1pm, when people can discover beautiful butterflies. Meet at the Hart to Haswell walkway, off Ocean Road.
* Headland to Hart Station walk on Thursday, from 10.30am to 1.30pm, when people can join local nature reserves officer Joe Davies and Tees Valley Wildlife Trust for a five-mile stroll which takes in spectacular views. Booking is essential for this event.
* By the Beck with Batty Bond on Friday, from 8.30pm to 10pm. Ecologist Ian Bond will introduce people to bats that feed at Greatham Beck Local Nature Reserve. Meet at the Newark Road pumping station on the Fens estate.
For more information on the events and to book for the Headland to Hart Station walk, call the countryside wardens on (01429) 853325.
