THE grounds of a stately home will be opened to the public for an open-air fundraising concert.
Sir James and Lady Jennifer Aykroyd are opening Birstwith Hall, near Harrogate, in aid of two local charities - St Michael's Hospice and Henshaws College for visually handicapped people.
The evening, on Saturday, will include live performances from the Dave Challis Jazz Five, Biggles Rock Band and the Fanfare Brass Quintet. Alan Watkiss, of BBC Radio York, will compere.
The gates will open at 5pm and performances will begin at 6pm with a fireworks display finale at 10.30pm. Guests are invited to bring a picnic, chairs, blankets and wine.
Tickets are £17.50 to £20, at the gate. Raffle prizes include TVs and dinner for two at Harrogate restaurants.
