A BISHOP Auckland cyclist will head for the hills next month to raise money for charity.
Matthew Rossi, 43, of Etherley Grange, will ride about 400km in the Alps in France, starting on August 28, in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind. He will be one of 40 cyclists from across the world, including America and Switzerland, taking part in the gruelling seven-day ride.
"My wife Pauline picked up on it, being a dog-lover, and I am a keen cyclist so it just seemed right," said Mr Rossi.
"Some of the hills are over 2,000 metres high, so it's quite a challenge. I have been out building up my stamina and I am confident I will do it - by hook or by crook."
Mr Rossi needed to raise £1,500 to take part, and is still £400 short so is appealing for sponsorship or donations.
Any company or individual interested in helping can call Mr Rossi on (01388) 605923.
