Ithe Cattle Mart derby the women's team made their first win of the season by pipping their A team by the odd point.

Alison Hopps, Sylvia Goodall and Chris Suddes took singles points for the ladies but were matched by wins from Robbie McFadden, David Raine and Malcolm Boughey.

Heather Laing and Alison Hopps joined forces in the deciding doubles to beat Alan Ogilvie and David Raine.

Only Michael Bell managed to take a point for the Station at the New Market B.

Steve Garrett took the Royal George's only singles point at early leaders Sunniside Comedian while last season's runners-up, the King's Head, went down at home to Tow Law FC after dropping all three doubles.

Bishop Auckland moved into second place after winning a tight game at Newton Aycliffe by two points.

The home side had two points from Dave Bromley and Eddie Mackay with Phil Cox and Gary Spooner adding one each.

The Bishops replied with two points from Kevin Stewart, Paul Willey and Chris Bowran with Andrew Delve and Gary Richardson adding one each.

It took wins in both doubles to push the Spitfire Club to victory on their visit to Croft SC B.

The home side had two wins from David Parvin while Bob Spence, George Lynch, Joe Innerd and Keith Hogarth all added one.

The Spitfire Club's points came from Eddie Phillipson with two and one each from Gordon Walker, Roger Ward, Geoff Roberts and David Sneath.

Crook Hotel A had their lead at the top of Division One cut to one point by the Royal Sun A, who are two points ahead of Olde Horse Shoe A, who have a match in hand.

In Division Two the Olde Horse Shoe B hold a 13-point lead over the Royal Sun B who are 16 ahead of Surtees in third.

Second-placed Derby were stretched before taking an odd point victory when they travelled to Bishop Auckland FC.

The home side had singles point from Lee Diaz, Tony Lambert, Mark Quinn and Russell Place, while the Derby moved ahead with two points from Steve Balanaves and one each from Chris Peacock, Paul Willey, Kevin Stewart and Chris Bowran.

The visitors increased their lead when Chris Peacock and Andrew Delve won the doubles but then Lee Diaz shocked the visiting captain, Chris Bowran by beating him 2-0 in the captain's game.

King's Head moved into a share of second place following their big win at the Cumberland Arms.

Langley Park Sports and SC made a very good away win over Broom Park Loves with two points each from Simon Baker and Wally Wright and one each from Dave Neill, Andrew Morley, Barry Dowson, Dave Ferguson and Paul Campbell.

The home points came from Peter Jackson with two and one from Helen Littlewood. In the captain's game Barry Dowson added to the Loves woe when he beat Peter Jackson.

Summer Championship

Ithe fourth qualifying round at Tow Law, Arnold Fleming of Hunwick produced his best form for some years to comfortably take top place after a tight first match with John Warriner (Belle Vue) which he won by seven points.

Fleming then knocked in an opening break of 28 and follow it with two more scores over 20 to beat winter champion Charlie Donaghy (Tow Law). He completed a good night with a victory over Ken Rider (Billy Row).

John Warriner was unable to take second place when he lost against

Charlie Donaghy, while Ken Rider never hit his true form and failed to record a win.
