TEACHERS who have left the classroom are being encouraged to get back into the profession.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is using funding from the Teacher Training Agency to set up two Return to Teaching courses for primary and secondary teachers.
The primary course will concentrate on updating qualified teachers in recent developments such as literacy, numeracy and information technology.
The secondary course, developed with the University of Durham, Stockton campus, will target teachers specialising in shortage subject areas such as maths, science and music. It is also hoped to attract more men back into teaching.
For more information on the courses, due to start in October, call (01642) 444186.
