A STUNNING parade of boats through the ages made their way along the River Wear against the dramatic backdrop of Durham Cathedral, at the weekend.
The event, on Saturday, was one of the highlights of the Durham Regatta, often referred to as the Henley of the North.
The Millennium River Parade included rafts, steam boats and single scullers in old skiffs.
Also featured was the fascinating record of amateur and professional rowing, which had its origins in the North-East.
As well as watching competitors pitting their strength against each other, spectators were able to enjoy a host of other activities.
