PEOPLE living in and around Darlington and Teesside will be able to know their area better thanks to an updated map from the national mapping agency, Ordnance Survey.
The map, number 93 in the agency's pink-covered Landranger series, is entitled Middlesbrough, Darlington and Hartlepool.
Ordnance Survey's publishing manager, Paul Franklin, said: "As well as being perfect local maps, Landrangers are for people visiting other parts of Britain.
"There are 204 of them covering the country, each one shows an area 40km by 40km, or 25 miles by 25 miles."
As well as showing roads and railways, official footpaths and bridleways, and the location of every town and village, the maps pinpoint attractions such as museums and stately homes, viewpoints and country parks.
They also show facilities such as camping and caravan sites, picnic areas and tourist information centres.
Landrangers are at 1:50,000 scale, which means two centimetres on the map is the equivalent to one kilometre on the ground. Each costs £5.25.
