SHOP workers are wondering if they have an Oscar on their hands.
Staff at the Co-operative store in Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, found a cat in their warehouse last week.
They found the cat after he set off alarms in the building, and the following morning set a trap to capture him.
Store workers think the grey cat could be named Oscar, after hearing a couple calling that name near the warehouse the day before the cat was found.
Sales assistant Elizabeth Lawton said: "We saw an elderly couple at the back of the shop with a cat basket shouting 'Oscar'.
"The following day this cat appeared in the warehouse. He is an elderly, old cat and we were thinking it could be Oscar."
The animal is now in the care of Castle Veterinary Surgeons, at St Helen Auckland.
