PLANNING officials are recommending that a scheme to convert a disused Durham City cinema into a pub be rejected.
The city council's development control committee will be advised tomorrow to reject national chain J D Wetherspoon's £1m proposals for the Palladium, in Claypath.
The company wants to create a real ale pub and wine bar in the Palladium and two neighbouring shops, with a beer garden at the back.
Police objected to the proposal, and the city council also received a 202-name petition from residents concerned about rowdyism.
Planners are worried about impact on residents.
