TEENAGERS have been given a taste of life in the police force in a pilot work experience scheme.
Their week-long placements with the Sunderland West Area Command included going out on panda car patrols and meeting specialist officers.
Three pupils from comprehensive schools at Farringdon and four from Pennywell, in Sunderland, have taken part in the scheme.
They will be followed in September by five pupils from Sandhill View Comprehensive.
Chief Inspector Michael Hartnack said: "The work placements have shown these youngsters that there is a human face to policing."
