A COUNTY Durham school is to remain closed until next week, as efforts continue to clean up flood damage.
Henknowle Primary School, in Bishop Auckland, was shut on June 5 when the River Gaunless broke its banks and inundated the school.
The water caused floor coverings to lift and the tiles have had to be removed and the floors cleaned and disinfected.
Headteacher Dave Hutchinson announced yesterday that work would continue throughout the week and the school would reopen on Monday, June 19.
Parents were updated by staff, governors and county council workers at a meeting on Monday.
The damaged materials will be replaced during the summer holidays
