CYCLISTS in the North-East will be out and about this weekend and next week as part of two national bike riding schemes.
A series of events are planned to attract people of all ages to take part in the National Ride the Net and Ride for Health schemes.
Ride for Health is designed to provide a focus for all organisations who are keen to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
Local events are being supported by Teesside Health Action Zone and co-ordinated by the Tees Forest.
Dr Ian Holtby, a keen cyclist and public health consultant for Tees Health Authority, said: "Regular cycling improves your health and can help control weight, keep you in good shape and make you look and feel better. Being physically active for just half an hour a day is all it takes to benefit your health."
