A Saltburn woman is the first winner of a new Teesside adult learning award.
Amanda Jackson, 33, of Irvine Avenue, Saltburn, was nominated for the Teesside Regional Open College Network adult learners award by her tutor at Redcar and Cleveland College, Carole Harrison.
Amanda, who has a 15-year-old daughter, left school with no formal qualifications but then studied at Redcar and Cleveland College. She started the Access to Nursing course in 1998.
Amanda has achieved her Access certificate and is well on her way to meeting her career goal of becoming an occupational therapist.
In September, she starts a BSc Hons degree in occupational therapy at Teesside University
