CHURCHES across Redcar came together at the weekend to celebrate the Millennium birthday celebrations of Christ.
The event, on Pentecost Sunday at Redcar Racecourse, was the climax to the Jesus Festival Redcar 2000.
Churches of all denominations in Redcar closed their doors for the morning as more than 2,000 people headed for the racecourse.
Church leaders from across the region were present along with representatives from churches in East Cleveland.
The celebration began with traditional songs of praise followed by a service of celebration involving all the churches.
Rev Philip Dixon, Jesus Festival Redcar chairman, said: "It went really well. It brought everyone together and all the churches in Redcar were well represented. We had a big celebration for Pentecost Sunday - which was the main aim - and we had a good time together.
