A NORTH-EAST athletics club is running a series of children's events - thanks to the National Lottery.
New Marske Harriers Athletic Club, in East Cleveland, is holding the Millennium Sportshall Athletics events for primary school pupils in the region.
The aim is to introduce children to a range of fun athletic activities in a programme of running, jumping and throwing events.
The events, the first of which was held this week, are funded by a £5,000 National Lottery Millennium Awards for All grant.
A spokesman said: "We want to provide an environment that shows that athletics can be fun and provide benefit for all irrespective of age, sex and ability."
More than 200 children from East Cleveland primary schools, including Badger Hill, St Peter's, Lingdale and Lockwood, took part in the first event.
