PEOPLE in Stanley are urged to make the town's annual fun day a roaring success this weekend.
The event on Saturday is the flagship fundraiser for the Stanley Local Committee of the Cancer Research Campaign and is backed by Derwentside District Council. It takes place in Clifford Road, from 10am until 4.30pm.
The organisers promise an action-packed programme of entertainment, plus side shows, stalls, games, face-painting and a tombola.
The entertainment includes ventriloquist act Eileen and Joe, singers Saleek and Teri Mac, dancers from Sam's School of Dancing and rock band Skinflints. Other attractions include a kick-boxing demonstration
The fun day will be opened by Councillor Les Vaux, vice-chairman of Derwentside District Council, and comedian Spike Rawlings.
Jacky Spence, fundraising manager for the Cancer Research Campaign said: "Please do come and support this fun day, which is always so well planned and organised by our team of Stanley fundraisers. There'll be something for everyone to enjoy."
