A MAN had a lucky escape after a car crashed through his bedroom wall while he was sleeping.
Keith Little, 37, was trapped by rubble after the impact knocked down the bedroom wall at his home in Boldon Colliery, South Tyneside, a spokesman for Northumbria Police said.
The man was freed unhurt by firefighters, and police were last night questioning the driver.
A police spokesman said it appeared the car had hit a lamp-post and then a bollard before crashing into the building in Arnold Street, at 12.20am yesterday.
He said: "The car seems to have skidded, and then hit the end of the house, going into the wall where the occupier was sleeping. We have contacted the council because the house is unsafe."
The car, a Citroen Xantia Estate, had not been moved yesterday because firefighters believed it may be supporting the house.
Mr Little is staying with his parents in South Shields while the house is repaired
