A SUPPORT group has been set up for people suffering from severe fatigue, who were too tired to travel to existing help sessions.
The condition of myalgic encephalomyelitis chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), causes severe fatigue, muscle aching and emotional disturbance.
Previously, people in Hartlepool suffering from ME/CFS had to travel to Middlesbrough for help and support, but many were too tired to make the trip.
Now, a group has been set up on their doorstep to encourage more sufferers to get help.
Group organiser Peter Gowland said: "We have already held two pilot meetings of the group and they were very well attended.
"Some people are locked in this world for years and feel they are stuck in a rut.
"Some people become so tired they are unable to get out of bed on a morning, or are unable to just enjoy a pleasant short stroll."
The group meets in The Douglas Hotel, Murray Street, Hartlepool, and there are plans for a variety of activities, including aromatherapy, healing sessions and reflexology.
Guest speakers will explain how ME/CFS is caused and how to cope.
Mr Gowland said: "People can often feel incredibly isolated. We hope to alleviate that by introducing them to other members of the group."
The group meets next Wednesday, at 6.30pm. For details, ring Mr Gowland on (01429) 262641.
