AN INTERNATIONAL children's charity is looking for people interested in working with youngsters in local authority care in the North-East.
Spurgeon's Child Care is working in partnership with the five Tees Valley local authorities to establish an independent visitors scheme for children aged up to 18 who have little or no contact with their family.
The charity is seeking to recruit volunteers to befriend a child or young person on a one-to-one basis.
Bosses say volunteer befrienders can offer stability, friendship and encouragement, enhancing the life of a child.
Anyone living in Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton can volunteer.
They should contact Janice Pearson, during the day, on (01642) 456282 or leave a message on (01642) 461482
