POLICE believe the theft of a caravan may be linked to that of a car which was later discovered abandoned in Doncaster.
The grey Ford Sierra, registration F558 HNN, was taken from Hollyhurst Road, West Cornforth, overnight. It was recovered yesterday morning. The four-berth caravan, a cream Avondale Dart 515-4, with green flashing, was taken from Ferryhill Station between midnight and 8.30am yesterday.
The stolen car was fitted with a tow bar and police believe the two may be linked.
Anyone who knows anything about the caravan theft, or saw the car before it left the area, should contact Newton Aycliffe Police on (01325) 314401.
