POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an arson attack at North Timber woodyard, Brenda Road, Hartlepool, yesterday.
Vandals destroyed 20 tonnes of wood worth hundreds of pounds.
Leading firefighter Anthony Mosely, of Hartlepool fire station, said: "The storage yard is open to anyone, so access by people with malicious motives is easy without arousing suspicion.
"They must have used an accelerant of some kind, like petrol, to do that amount of damage."
